Unlike some driving schools, we don't use classroom-based training as part of your practical course hours. If you book a 20-hour intensive course, you receive 20 hours of practical driving tuition.

Your course time is focused on driving, practising and improving the skills you need on the road.
Your schedule and instructor details are organised quickly
Some pupils are left waiting a long time after paying before they receive instructor details or a lesson schedule. We aim to provide your instructor details and course schedule within 48 hours of booking, so you know who you'll be learning with and when your lessons are planned.
Manual and automatic flexibility
We offer both manual and automatic driving lessons. If your needs change, you may be able to switch between manual and automatic tuition, subject to instructor availability.
A course built around your test date
Because you must already have your practical test booked, we can plan your intensive training around that date and make the best use of the time available.

What is an intensive driving course?

When you learn to drive in a shorter period than usual is classed as an intensive driving course.

A typical intensive driving course involves 6 or more hours of driving in one week, and in many cases, a learner can undertake 6 hours of driving just in one day.

What is the difference between intensive, semi intensive and conventional driving courses?

Intensive driving courses are no longer than 2 weeks, and in most cases, a learner undertakes 30 to 42 hours of driving in a week.

Semi-intensive courses can be between 1 to 12 weeks, and in general, 1 lesson is no longer than 3 hours.

Non-intensive or conventional driving courses could take between 6 months to 1 year before you sit the test, and lessons are usually no longer than 2 hours.

What are the benefits of intensive driving course?

Saves Time

If you want to get the licence in a couple of weeks, then an intensive course is perfect for you.

Good for forgetful people

Short gaps between lessons make it easier to remember the skills you learned in the last lesson, and regular practice helps to retain the information. So intensive driving course will be helpful.

Are there any disadvantages of intensive driving course?

It can be tiring and nerve-racking, and sometimes even when you want to reschedule, you won't be able to, because of the availability of a driving instructor or the next date for the driving test.

Does Intensive courses gives guarantee to pass?

Can a teacher guarantee an A* for every student in A Levels?

Which cousre is suitable for me?

Take an assessment lesson with the instructor if you can't decide which one is best for you, and your driving instructor can advise if you should go for a conventional, intensive or semi-intensive course before you commit.

Do I need to book a practical test before booking an intensive course?

Yes. You must have a practical driving test booked before booking an Intensive or Semi-Intensive Course with us. We do not book or guarantee practical test dates. Having your test booked allows us to plan your training around your test date.

How many hours should I book?

This depends on your experience, ability and confidence.

42 Hours – Beginner – Complete beginners or those needing comprehensive training.

30 Hours – Intermediate – Learners with some previous driving experience.

20 Hours – Amateur – Learners with reasonable experience who need further training.

12 Hours – Test Ready – Experienced learners who are approaching test standard.

These are guidelines only. We cannot guarantee that a particular number of hours will make you test-ready.

How many hours will I drive each day?

Usually 2.5 to 6 hours per day, depending on your course, availability and instructor availability.

Your comfort, concentration and safety will always be considered when planning longer sessions.

Do I need to pass my theory test first?

Yes. As you need a practical test booked before taking an intensive course with us, you will need to have passed your theory test first.

Do you provide theory-test training?

We don't provide classroom-based theory training. We recommend using the Official DVSA Theory Test Kit to practise the multiple-choice questions and hazard perception tests.

Can Just Drive book my practical test?

No. You must book and manage your own practical driving test through the official GOV.UK service.

Just Drive cannot book or guarantee a practical test date.

Where will my lessons start?

Lessons can normally start from home, work, school, college or another agreed location within your instructor's working area.

How much does an intensive course cost?

We offer 12, 20, 30 and 42-hour courses in manual and automatic cars. Please see our Prices & Offers page for current prices.

Is the DVSA practical test fee included?

No. You book and pay for your practical test separately. Use of your instructor's car for the test is also charged separately.

Does an intensive course guarantee I'll be ready for my test?

No. Everyone learns at a different pace. Your instructor will assess your progress and advise you honestly about whether you have reached the required test standard.

What is the booking process?

You must first pass your theory test and book your practical test.

Then contact us with:

We'll check instructor availability and agree a suitable schedule.

A £250 deposit by bank transfer is required to reserve your course dates. The remaining balance is payable by bank transfer on the day of your first lesson.

Can I use my instructor's car for the practical test?

Yes, subject to availability and your instructor agreeing that you have reached a safe test standard.

Use of the car is charged separately. Your instructor can refuse use of their vehicle if they believe you are not ready to take the test safely.
